The Doaker! Doak Walker became one of the greatest collegiate players in history, winning the 1947 Maxwell Award, 1948 Heisman Trophy and being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (1959). In his sophomore season, Doak led Southern Methodist to the 1947 SWC championship and was named an All-American. His junior year saw Doak once again leading SMU to the 1948 SWC Championship, while personally winning All-America honors and the coveted Heisman Trophy.
